Peptide Vial Storage, Reconstitution, and Handling

Important Information

This sterile diluent is intended for use in reconstituting PROPeptides lyophilized peptide vials.

Always check the individual peptide vial, prescription label, and treatment instructions for:

  • The exact volume of diluent to add

  • The prescribed dose

  • Refrigeration requirements

  • The beyond-use or discard date

  • Any peptide-specific handling instructions

Do not estimate the amount of diluent or change the prescribed concentration without instructions from your healthcare provider.

Diluent Storage

Before Opening

  • Store at 20–25°C (68–77°F).

  • Temporary temperature variations between 15–30°C (59–86°F) may occur during normal transportation unless otherwise stated on the vial.

  • Protect from excessive heat and direct light.

  • Keep the vial in its original packaging until needed.

  • Do not freeze.

  • Do not use after the expiration date printed on the vial.

After Opening

This is a single-use vial.

Use the vial during one reconstitution session and discard any remaining diluent afterward. Do not save a punctured single-use vial for later use unless the product is specifically labeled as a multidose vial and you have received different instructions from the dispensing pharmacy or healthcare provider.

Single-dose and single-use vials commonly do not contain preservatives intended to prevent microbial growth after repeated entry.

Before Reconstituting a Peptide

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

  2. Work on a clean, dry, well-lit surface.

  3. Confirm the correct peptide, diluent, and prescribed reconstitution volume.

  4. Check the expiration dates and inspect both vials for damage.

  5. Remove the protective caps without touching the exposed rubber stoppers.

  6. Clean each rubber stopper with a new alcohol swab.

  7. Allow the alcohol to air-dry completely.

  8. Use a new sterile syringe and needle for every vial entry.

Never reuse a syringe or needle. A new sterile needle and syringe should be used each time a medication vial is accessed.

How to Add the Diluent

  • Draw up the exact volume listed on the individual peptide instructions.

  • Insert the needle through the peptide vial’s rubber stopper.

  • Direct the diluent slowly against the inside wall of the vial.

  • Avoid forcefully spraying the diluent directly onto the peptide powder.

  • Remove the needle and place it immediately into an approved sharps container.

  • Gently roll or slowly swirl the vial until the powder has dissolved.

Do not shake the vial vigorously. Vigorous agitation may create foam and may affect the stability of some peptides.

Some peptide formulations dissolve quickly, while others may require several minutes of gentle movement.

Inspect the Reconstituted Peptide

Before every use, visually inspect the solution whenever the vial allows.

Do not use the peptide if you notice:

  • Visible particles or foreign material

  • Unexpected cloudiness

  • Significant discoloration

  • Cracks, leaks, or damage to the vial

  • A loose or damaged stopper

  • Evidence that the product has frozen

  • Any change that differs from the expected appearance described by PROPeptides or the dispensing pharmacy

Visible particulate contamination in injectable products may present a safety risk.

Contact PROPeptides or your healthcare provider before using a vial that appears abnormal.

Storage After Reconstitution

Unless the individual peptide label states otherwise:

  • Refrigerate the reconstituted peptide promptly at 2–8°C (36–46°F).

  • Keep the vial upright when possible.

  • Store it away from the refrigerator door, cooling vents, and freezer compartment.

  • Protect it from direct light.

  • Do not freeze.

  • Do not leave the vial at room temperature longer than necessary to prepare a dose.

  • Return it to the refrigerator promptly after each use.

  • Keep the vial in a clean container or its original carton to reduce light exposure and accidental damage.

The exact storage period after reconstitution is product-specific. Always follow the beyond-use date or discard date provided on the peptide vial or prescription label. Do not extend the use period based only on the appearance of the solution. USP defines a beyond-use date as the date or time after which a compounded preparation should not be used.

Safe Handling With Each Dose

Before accessing the reconstituted peptide vial:

  1. Wash and dry your hands.

  2. Confirm the correct vial and prescribed dose.

  3. Inspect the solution.

  4. Clean the rubber stopper with a new alcohol swab.

  5. Allow the stopper to air-dry.

  6. Use a new sterile syringe and needle.

  7. Avoid touching the needle, syringe tip, or cleaned stopper.

  8. Dispose of the used needle and syringe immediately in an approved sharps container.

Never share peptide vials, syringes, needles, or injection supplies with another person.

Preventing Dosing Errors

Peptide concentrations vary depending on:

  • The amount of peptide in the vial

  • The volume of diluent added

  • The prescribed dose

  • The syringe size being used

“Units” on an insulin syringe represent volume and do not independently identify the number of milligrams or micrograms being administered.

Use only the dosing instructions provided for your specific vial. FDA has reported serious adverse events associated with measurement and dosing errors involving compounded injectable medications.

Contact your healthcare provider before administering a dose when:

  • The reconstitution volume is unclear

  • The syringe markings do not match the instructions

  • The vial concentration is different from a previous order

  • You are unsure how many units to administer

  • Medication has leaked during preparation

  • A dose may have been measured incorrectly

Do not administer an additional dose to compensate for a suspected dosing error unless specifically instructed by a healthcare professional.

Transportation and Travel

When traveling with a reconstituted peptide:

  • Keep it refrigerated at 2–8°C (36–46°F) unless its label provides different instructions.

  • Use an insulated medication travel case.

  • Keep the vial separated from direct contact with ice packs.

  • Do not place the vial directly on ice or dry ice.

  • Do not allow the medication to freeze.

  • Keep the vial protected from sunlight, heat, and physical damage.

  • Carry prescription documentation when required.

  • Do not place temperature-sensitive medication in checked luggage.

If the vial becomes warm, freezes, or is exposed to an unknown temperature for an extended period, contact PROPeptides before using it.

Disposal

Place used needles and syringes immediately into an FDA-cleared sharps disposal container or another container permitted by local regulations.

Do not place loose needles into household trash or recycling.

Discard the peptide vial when:

  • The labeled beyond-use date has passed

  • The vial is empty

  • The solution appears abnormal

  • The vial has been damaged

  • The product may have frozen

  • Sterility may have been compromised

  • Your healthcare provider directs you to discontinue it

Follow local regulations for disposal of medication vials and sharps.

When to Seek Medical Assistance

Contact your healthcare provider for persistent or worsening:

  • Injection-site redness

  • Swelling

  • Warmth

  • Pain

  • Drainage

  • Rash

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Unexpected medication effects

Seek urgent medical assistance for symptoms such as:

  • Difficulty breathing

  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat

  • Severe dizziness or fainting

  • Chest pain

  • Severe abdominal pain

  • Confusion

  • Signs of a serious allergic reaction
